Today, 6 August, our first full day of our mission, we entered the Training Zone for our two week training and introduction to our mission.  We learned about Personal Ancestral File, a genealogical program, where we worked on our family and ancestors looking for and finding records to create sources of documentation.  We  were taught about new.familysearch.org so we can organize our ancestors in family lines on the internet.

At the end of the day, the Ensign 3rd Branch held the Aloha Activity at the George Washington Memorial Grove in Immigration Canyon, to the East of Salt Lake City.  This was also the annual summer branch BBQ picnic.  However, due to dry conditions in the canyon, no fires were allowed, so all the food was brought into the park.  Dallyn Vail Bayles, a professional actor, singer, and recording artist, sang and provided the entertainment for the picnic.  All the missionaries who were departing within the next two months and those of us who just arrived were given a big Aloha (meaning goodbye and hello).
